Classroom Rules The Principles of CPHS
1. Be respectful 1.Do what is right.
2. Be responsible 2.Own your mistakes
3. Be safe 3.Take care of each other.
The student handbook will be followed by the instructor. Unless a student has a behavior plan or alternative consequences stated in their IEP for inappropriate behavior, the normal school policies will be followed. All students are responsible to know the contents of the Student Handbook.
Consequences for inappropriate behavior
1. Not being able to complete assignments during normal
classroom time, poor or failing grades
2. Loss of classroom privileges
3. Contact parents
4. Removed from the group, classroom, or sent to the office
5. Detention
6. Lunch time detention with the teacher
7. Suspension from class
8. Administrative discipline action
9. A behavior contact
If a student is disrupting the educational environment and the teacher tells the student to go into the hallway, no further discipline action will be taken, if the student does so immediately and respectfully. The student may return to the classroom once the teacher and student have discussed the situation. The student must stay within a reasonable distance of the classroom. The student will still be responsible for all work they have missed while they are out of the classroom
Remember the golden rule
Remember why you’re here!
Inappropriate Conversations.
Any conversation involving profanity, drugs, partying, violence, etc.. will not be permitted.
Unnecessary Items
If an item is not needed for class, do not bring it into the room. Coats, hats, bags, iPods, phone, etc. are not allowed in the classroom and must remain in your locker. Food and drinks are also not allowed, water only.
PERSONAL COMMUNICATION/ELECTRONIC DEVICES
(BOE Policy 5136)
For the purpose of these guidelines, “personal communication device/device” includes personal computers, tablets, cell phones, and/or any web-enabled devices of any type. Students may not access social media sites during the instructional day. Use of the devices shall be limited to the period before classes begin in the morning, during passing time, and after the regular school day. All devices must be turned off and stored in the student’s hallway locker or kept out of sight during instructional time. When a student is requested by a staff member to turn over an electronic device, they must comply. Failure to do so will result in suspension from school for insubordination.
For more information, refer to the student handbook available on the school website.
Tardys
Students will be marked tardy if they are not in their seats and ready for class when the bell rings. When the bell rings, the door will be shut and locked. Knock politely on the door and wait for the teacher to let you in. Enter the room as quietly as possible. It is important not to disrupt the class any more than it has already been disrupted.
Dismissal from class
When class is over, the teacher dismisses you, not the bell.
Leaving the classroom
Leaving the classroom once class begins is strongly discouraged; however, I understand there are times it is unavoidable. Students will fill out a pass and sign out before they leave and when they return. Students are expected to return in a timely manner. Anyone abusing this system will not be allowed to leave thereafter. Only one person will be allowed to leave the room at a time. No one will be permitted to leave the room during First Lunch (11:00 -11:30), without making up the time they missed during 2nd lunch.
